Planning a Silat Cimande Asli Tarikolot seminar

This page sets out the current public framework for hosts before a seminar date, fee, or announcement is confirmed.

It may be printed or saved as a PDF from your browser for internal planning.

1. Purpose and suitability

Seminars are considered for martial arts schools, private training groups, community or cultural organisations, and suitable national or international hosts. The host should be able to explain the purpose, expected audience, training background, and why the event is appropriate for the group.

The organisation may decline or reshape a proposal where the purpose, audience, venue, publicity, finances, welfare arrangements, or requested teaching are not suitable.

2. Possible formats

  • Introductory seminar or workshop.
  • Focused study day on an agreed subject.
  • Private or invitation-only group training.
  • Multi-day visit or a continuing programme.
  • Small strategic retreat or relationship-building event.

Duration and content depend on the group, venue, travel, teaching aim, and what can be covered responsibly. A proposed timetable is reviewed rather than accepted automatically.

3. Teaching content and source

Core Silat Cimande Asli Tarikolot material is identified as such. It may include structure, jurus, langkah, footwork, timing, entries, striking lines, partner work, close-range control, balance disruption, takedowns, practical protection, etiquette, and restraint.

Associated Cimande material, Kuntao Silat, Malaysian Silat, or Southeast Asian breath-body and internal exercises may be offered where appropriate and agreed. They must remain clearly labelled rather than being presented as one undifferentiated lineage.

Seminar attendance does not confer teaching, certification, appointment, rank, or authority to represent the organisation.

4. Venue and equipment

  • A clean, safe, private or appropriately controlled training area.
  • Enough unobstructed floor space for the stated participant number.
  • Suitable flooring for the agreed activities.
  • Heating, ventilation, toilets, drinking water, and changing arrangements appropriate to the event.
  • Secure storage or supervision for personal belongings where needed.
  • Any pads, training weapons, mats, audio equipment, chairs, or presentation equipment agreed in advance.

The host should disclose venue restrictions, noise limits, public access, shared-space issues, stairs, parking, transport, and known accessibility limitations before confirmation.

5. Participants and communication

The host is normally responsible for truthful event publicity, registration, participant communication, capacity control, and collecting any agreed participant information. Publicity must not exaggerate titles, lineage, outcomes, authorisation, healing claims, or what will be taught.

The final audience, experience level, age range, language needs, injuries, access needs, and relevant behaviour or welfare issues should be communicated early enough to plan safely.

6. Safeguarding, first aid, and insurance

The host must identify whether children, young people, adults at risk, or mixed-age groups will attend. Appropriate consent, supervision, boundaries, venue procedures, photography controls, and local safeguarding responsibilities must be agreed before the event.

The host should have suitable first-aid provision, emergency procedures, and insurance appropriate to the venue and event. The organisation may request evidence or clarification. Nothing on this page is a substitute for professional legal, insurance, medical, or safeguarding advice.

7. Travel, accommodation, and local support

For events outside the teacher's normal local area, the proposal should explain who will arrange and pay for travel, accommodation, local transport, meals, and other necessary expenses. Bookings should not be made on assumptions; the route, timings, standard, cancellation conditions, and payer must be agreed first.

International hosts should also identify visa, border, currency, local law, tax, insurance, translation, and emergency-contact issues where relevant.

8. Fees and financial terms

Fees are agreed case by case. They reflect teaching time, preparation, event length, group size, travel, accommodation, administration, and the nature of the relationship. The aim is a professional and sustainable arrangement, not an inflated one-off commercial hit or an informal event that leaves genuine costs uncovered.

The written proposal should identify the fee, currency, payer, taxes or bank charges where relevant, reimbursable costs, payment schedule, participant-pricing responsibility, and what happens if numbers change.

9. Confirmation, publicity, and cancellation

An enquiry, conversation, provisional date, or draft poster is not confirmation. The event becomes confirmed only when the essential terms have been accepted in writing and any agreed payment condition has been met.

The host must obtain approval before publishing final teacher titles, lineage wording, logos, photographs, seminar subjects, dates, or claims. Cancellation and postponement terms should address non-refundable travel, accommodation, venue costs, teaching time, illness, force majeure, and the process for rescheduling.

10. Photography, filming, and records

Photography or filming is not automatic. The host must identify the intended purpose, people who may appear, consent process, ownership, editing, storage, publication channels, and whether the teacher and organisation may also use approved material.

Technical teaching should not be recorded or published merely because a participant owns a phone. Event records and captions should identify people, place, date or period, photographer, and permission where possible.

11. After the event

The host should complete agreed payments and expense reconciliation promptly, share approved photographs and feedback, communicate any incident or complaint, and discuss future work privately before making public promises. A useful event should strengthen the relationship rather than end as an isolated transaction.
